New Journey – Water Fasting!

While working from home has its challenges, events in the past eight days have renewed my appreciation for my situation.  From heartbreak and near tragedy within the family to angst over whether or not we would have to put down a beloved family pet (thankfully, he’s on the mend!), my household has taken its turn on the emotional roller coaster.  It is during times of intense stress like these, for some reason, that I often rally the personal motivation to put into action ideas and plans that have long been subject to procrastination.  At the top of my list?  Water fasting and detoxification!

Now I know water fasting is an extremely controversial subject, as I found out in 2009 when I embarked on one after doing much research on the topic.  But despite the warnings from much of the medical community (often with flawed logic), I am and remain a staunch advocate of the therapy and the many benefits it can bring… Which brings me back to being very thankful over my current working situation; because fasting is not a pretty business, and the more time you can spend at home, better.

My first water fast in April of 2009 was an unforgettable 11-day experience.  I watched my body go through so many inexplicable and at times scary changes and I scoured the internet looking for some kind of documentation of similar experiences but came up short.

Since that time, water fasting seems to be catching on in the mainstream, but still lacks the documenting of all of the wonderfully disgusting details that I desired, including the raw emotion and horrific substances being purged from the mind and body respectively.

I’ve fasted a few times since my detox of ’09 but they’ve not been more than three days, which although very beneficial, neglected to reach the depth in cleansing that I had experienced previously and hope to surpass.

I am currently in Day 3 of my water-only fast and will begin to document my experience.  I intend to document every gross detail of my journey, so if you have a weak stomach, you might not want to follow; but for those who are interested, I hope my experience can be of some encouragement or motivation to you.

For more information about water fasting, I highly recommend this read by Dr. Herbert M. Shelton, or this one by Dr. Isabelle Moser.  This is just a fraction of the information now available on the web about this process.
